I have found that most harmonica method books have very little
advice about how to actually blow the thing. That's old news, it
may not even be true any nore, but the last time I looked, it was
pucker method and that's it. If you are starting from scratch or
teaching you might find this useful.

Dave,

Your work is well organized and well written. Your half-way approach to
written-out music for the harp is AFAIK completely novel, and may get many
people reading music who never bothered or thought it was too much too soon.

High Praise follows: I haven't touched my guitar for years, but I'm going to
get it out tonight.

Cheers,
Fred

I read only part of your how to blow. There are a lot of the big boys
who use the "Hohner" as you call it tongue block they certainly can do
more than "Du, Du, Liegst Mir im Herzen"
I never met those guys, it's as simple as that. No doubt I went too far
there, and I will fix it, but I still say that it's a non-starter for a
beginner who can play one note any other way to start with tongue blocking.
Thanks for the input. I only play no hands for money, so there's a lot
I have never explored. daveA

You are right it is not the easiest. As far as not knowing any pucker
players that play for money I don't know anyone that plays u-block
period. Musselwhite and Butterfield (Jason Ricci mainly because he
overblows) among others are primarily pucker players I would think
Carlos Del Junco and Howard Levey are also. I am seeing Howard at a
small venue next week (if I can get someone to cover for me at work)if
I get a chance I will ask him. If I were to recommend one for the
beginner to start out it would be pucker. Just my humble opinion

How many U-Block players are there on this group?
