Hello All,

My beloved chromonica 270 worked fine until one day the hole 5 draw (D) went flat almost to
C#. And has no intentions of getting back to 'D'. That's what I call bending!
After only 3 weeks of playing.

Could this happen when you play with too much breath pressure (vacuum actually...)?

I guess / hope it's dirt from the carseat where it sits sometimes (next to my lunch box,
that wasn't very smart, I know).

I consider to use a q-tip and some alcohol or water, is that OK?
Is it difficult to reassemble the thing (with nails and stuff)?

Thanks for your feedback,
Wim

Hi Wim

When the pitch has dropped to a semitone below the original pitch, it's
(almost) for sure that the reed has a crack and can't be retuned.
It is however possible to change reeds(when you can get the reed...)..
On the Seydel website www.seydel1847.com you can find detailed workshops
how to do this...

Sorry group, now in dutch....

Hallo Wim..

Je kunt mij altijd bellen voor specifieke vragen over bluesharp en
chromatische mondh.s.

I don't know. Three weeks is pretty short. I would at least try and
ask your dealer and ask for replacement or other arrangement.

BTW, these reeds can be replaced. If you don't do it yourself, it
costs about the same as a blues harp. For a chromatic, it may be
worthwile.
