Prior to leaving Lincoln I bought a Hering Vintage ?. Thought it was an
awful harp. Needs lots of air and tastes terrible for months.Would
recommend that nobody waste their money on that harp.Maybe this will get
things a poppin! Allen

Isn't that a fish? No wonder it tastes terrible after being in a box for a
while.
(Or is that an old joke?)
As a new guy, nice to see some posts here

Usually playing Sp20, the few Hering Vintages are the best sounding harps
for accoustical playing i ever had. Probably regapping helps making your
harps airtight. What you say about tasting strange, is (sad enough)
true...but i already thought several times about buying more of them in
case one of my SP20 harps fails...

Hi Ralph, I have lots of Special 20's, but am now convinced that the
Bushman Delta Frost harps are the best for me. Have you tried those ? Allen

No, i never tried 'em - but: Either they are Suzukis, or they are Seydels.
If their reeds are welded, then they are made by Suzuki, if not, then they
are OEM by Seydel and i would kill them very fast... The Seydels don't play
bad, but i don't like their reed material, it's to soft or something like
that...

Hey Ralf. I thought that special 20's came with pre worn out reeds that were
right on the verge of fatiguing ?

Hey Keith ma man,

that's a good one, haha...! :-))
Indeed i'm most successful in killing reeds with Seydel harps...while
SP20's, MB deluxe and Herings last waaay longer - and what surprises me
most is that a lot of players report to kill Herings very quickly.
Well...everybody's mileage may vary.

Just about any brand of harp that I've owned tended to last a long time. The
only harps that I've had trouble with were SP20's. I gave up on them after
going through em in about 6 months

For my money, the SP20's are my favourites. Greatv sounding harp,
readily available, and for myself... they last a long time. I've got
a set of twelve SP20's that's over three years old now, and all them
harps are still going strong. Also got a set of seven Vintage 1923's,
that are still going strong as well. I guess how long a harp lasts
depends on how good your breath control is.
