Went to Guitar Center today and picked up a Shure Green Bullet. The
nearest GC to me is Oxnard Ca. about 160 mile drive. Just about was a bust
because they sold 3 of them today. The one I got was on layaway but the
person didn't put any money down so they sold it to me. Cool.
Shit, I spend enough money there they ought to make some concessions.
The reason I made the trip instead of just ordering it was, I was planning
on going to Hollywood to visit the Carvin factory store for an
acoustic/electric guitar. But the traffic was the worst I have ever seen in
my whole life and I am a California native. The stretch about 20 miles north
of Ventura was a literal parking lot. Traffic was stopped dead for about
half an hour. But when it started moving, at an average of 15 mph, from
there to southern Oxnard I never saw any indication of why. No wrecks, no
road crews, no debris, nothing. But it fucked up my whole trip. I knew I
wouldn't make it to L.A. before the Carvin store closed so I stopped in
Oxnard and got what I really needed.
Also got a Presonus tube pre-amp to front my Fender solid state amp.
We have a guy trying out tomorrow (Sunday) for the bass guitar position
that I am vacating. He is a member of the church of my two guitar players
(brothers). I have met him and know he is a really nice guy and from what
the bro's say is a great bass player (something I am not).
I have never played harp through an amp and FX rig so this is gonna be
trial by fire but I am totally stoked about adding harp to our band. One of
the guitar players plays but more in the Neil Young "Heart of gold" basic
sound. I get into the wailin' blues stuff. I'm not very good yet but I think
I have potential and am good enough to play "Roadhouse Blues" that I
originally inquired about.
I also picked up an E and D harp. So now I have A, C, D, E. Not sure why or
if I need them but I saw on a conversion chart which goes with what key. We
play stuff that the E and D will fit so what ever. I wanna play "The Wizard"
by Black Sabbath. Since we do Sabbath, I think the band might go for it. I
have not tried to play it yet so don't know the key. Hopefully one of mine
will cover it.
Boy this is fun.

Hi SotR: Some info to help you: When you play blues ,it is in the I,IV,V

layout of the music(you will have to find that on the computer to
understand it)Then when a song is in the key of E, you use an A
harp(called second position),or if a song is in the key of A, you use a
D harp, again, second position. If you try to play the harp in second
position(blues playing) on a song that is not in the I,IV,V, style it
won't work. Therefore if a song is not a blues or country song you need
to use the harp in the key of the song. Consequently you will be playing
the exact melody of the song and have to be very close to note for
note(this is called first position). Try this out on a rock song both
ways to see what works and what doesn't. Good luck. Allen

Hi SotR

Have a look here http://www.leeoskar.com/documentation.html and have a
search through the documents - they will point you in the right direction.

The main thing is to keep having fun ;-)

Hope that helps
