Name this Tune and Help Needed Please.

First Item.
_______________________________________

Can anyone recall the name of this tune please?

I think I remember it from years ago from TV when you used to see
three blokes
playing various harmonicas with a bit of clowning around.

I've worked out the tab below, hopefully the first few notes will
suggest the melody.

The first bit (3 4 5 6) is a slowish slide lingering on the 6 for
effect)

3 4 5 6 -5 5 -5 5 -4 -5

-5 6 -6 6 -5 5 -4 6

3 4 5 6 -5 5 -5 5 -4 -6

6 5 -4 4

7 7 7 7 -7 -7 -7

-6 -6 -6 -6 6 6 6

-6 -6 -6 -6 6 6 6

-5 5 -4 4 and repeat from the beginning.

Second Item.
_______________________________________

I'm just a beginner with the harp. I'm feeling my way around and
don't really have any
real musical direction yet. I love the blues and I suppose that is the
area that I'd like to
gain more experience with. The problem I have is that I don't have a
decent collection of
music at home and I'm finding it difficult to find decent tunes to
play.

It's all very well playing riffs and chugging but when I'm on my own
and purely playing for
pleasure I need to play a tune with a beginning, middle and end.

What I've been doing up to now is learning to the basic melody of a
tune and then adding a bit
of ornamentation here and there and using it as a basis to improvise
on by creating a counter
melody and so forth. I wonder if anyone could suggest some bluesy type
tunes that may be suitable
for this.

The kind of thing I'm playing at the moment is; Rising Sun, Georgia on
my Mind, Take these Chains
from my heart, If you ever Change your Mind, I can't stop loving you
-- all nice slow bluesy numbers.

Any suggestions/tabs along these lines would be warmly welcomed and
greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

No takers on this one then? What sort of tin sandwich munchers do we
have on this group then? Only kidding blues buddies.

Here's an idea I've been toying with. I've been thinking about fitting
my harp with some of those ultra-bright blue LED's. I reckon I could
fit four small ones in the sound holes at the back of the harp along
with a small button cell battery. Then when I waved my hand to get the
wah-wah effect it would make a cracking display for any audience that
probably wouldn't be there anyway. What do you think eh? I might even
be able to work out a way in which I could have coloured LED lights
which could change colour depending on what note was being played. Now
that would make a fine display. Anyone interested? The LED's are very
small so they wouldn't interfer with the sound output of the harp.

OK now for the serious bit. I've found lots of harp tabs on the web
for tunes using straight harp but I'm finding it difficult locating
tune tabs in crossharp or 3rd position. Any ideas please anyone.

Blues buddies? Playing blues is all right for jam nights but I sure as hell
wouldnt want to make a steady diet of em. Its one my least favorite types
of music to play. Around 65 and before fine.. The blues died with Sonny Boy.

"The blues died with Sonny Boy".

Traditional blues maybe, but surely there's nothing wrong with keeping
the blues alive. There is a lot of the old blues influence alive in
music today - things move on and evolve. What's to say there won't be
a new slant on the blues in the future and a brand new sound will
emerge, or should we just give up and die?

I'm a blues player first and foremost. But it's not all I play. Right
now I've been asked to join a band playing roots music... early blues/
country/americana/: A lot of different styles, all acoustic. I'm
looking forward to it. I might even retune a couple of my older harps
in Major 7th Country tuning, or buy some Lee Oskar Melody Makers for
some numbers. I'll also be stomping on a "porch board" for added
percussion. Blues may be the thing you love to play, it certainly is
what I like best, but you need to be versatile, and play as much
different stuff as you can. I ended up recording harp for one song on
an album recently, and the guys wanted me to play hard rock. I ended
up playing "shredder" harp - fast riffs at the high end of the harp.
At jam nights I often end up playing on classic rock standards more
than blues, because that's what the bands know. BTW, Adams, I still
have the MP3 of Seminole Wind with you playing you sent me. I want to
do that song in this new band.

The blues died
Huh? Parse Error within "The blues died".

That mean ol' blues will never die. It'll last as long as men will be left
by their women, treated wrong by 'em, will drink too much and things like
that. How would you express those feelings - maybe with funk or hip-hop?

Naa, Keitho, that's the blues....

Very true, Ralf. But also the blues help you feel better. They make
other people feel better too. Because they're not the guy sitting
there singing about having lost his job, money, car and woman: "hey,
at least I don't have it as bad as that guy..."
The trouble these days is it's all whining songwriters singing long
dirges. Any song by Coldplay, That's what makes me depressed.

To true, Bruce. Playing them mean ol' blues is a valve for making feelings
go out of my head or heart. I don't trust my abilities to sing - although
i'd like to sing...but (although i'm not shy when it comes to play harp)
i'm really very shy when it is about singing...

Did you mean Sonny's Boy's, wich one of him, Sonny Boy, or Rice Miller
(SBII). I prefered Sony Boy I.
