XB-40 WARNING WARNING!!!!!!!!! XB-40 WARNING WARNING!!!!!!!!
PLEASE READ THIS COPY OF AN E-MAIL I SENT TO HOHNER AT THE BEGINNING OF
LAST WEEK. IT WAS DELETED FROM THEIR COMPUTER WITHOUT BEING READ SO I
FORWARDED IT TO HOHNER IN THE US WHO FORWARDED IT TO GERMANY.
Dear Sirs
I have been playing harmonicas for over 40 years. I have bought
HUNDREDS of Hohner Blues Harps & Super Vampers. As I also play Scottish
traditional music
I also have quite a large collection of Hohners Chromatics.
Until a couple of years ago I even possessed a Hohner Tremelo
sextet until it was stolen which I suppose says something about
how attractive they are. I have never had any cause to complain - not
until now.
In March 30th this year I bought two XB-40s one in G, one in D,
from www.theinstrumentstore.com I had read some articles praising
this harp and when I heard a sample from the Internet I was impressed.
Their versatility was something I had been looking for in a harmonica.
Today I was playing a traditional number using tonguing and vamping
when
I heard one of the noted start to go sour. I continued playing
thinking
that it would fix itself. Suddenly something flew down my throat and
got
caught there. I started to cough violently and was unable to breath
properly.
After about 15-20 seconds things were getting worse and I panicked. I
was
alone in the house. I honestly thought I was going to die. I started to
run outside and tripped on a carpet and landed on my chest, winding
myself.
I felt something in my mouth and spat it out. I enclose a picture of
the object.
THE OBJECT WAS CA. 15mm LONG, REED-SHAPED PIECE OF PLASTIC
WHICH I GUESS IS A VALVE)
Conclusion: there is obviously a design/manufacturing fault in the
XB-40, a
potentially lethal one.
For my part, I will never play an XB-40 again. I'm too scared.
I now feel that Hohner must take steps to avoid this happening again.
Rethink the design or manufacturing process. YOU MUST WARN OF THE
POTENTIAL DANGERS!!!!
If Horner convince me that they're taking the necessary steps to
avoid a reoccurrence
of this incident then all and well. If they do not then I will have no
alternative
but to contact media and relevant web sights.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO ALL YOUR HARP BLOWING FRIENDS.
